First Portion (7 days) description
This amazing holiday opportunity takes you to one of the best locations for a camping vacation in the world. The camping site is located on Cebaco Island in between some of the most impressive undiscovered natural tropical parks and warm water beaches in Central America. Experience the primary forest of Cerro La Hoya and Coiba National Park where you will actually be able to see a historical penitentiary (Alcatraz type) built in the early 1900's and its surrounding wild life which has been there since the world was created!
Cebaco Island is in between Coiba Island and Cerro La Hoya, it’s the third biggest island on the Pacific coast of Panama! It counts with approx 10,000 hectares of preserved ecology, white sand beaches, crystal clear water, world class surfing, diving and fishing!
Itinerary and Map
Day 1 – After a long flight your arrival to Panama is finally accomplished! A private comfortable vehicle and friendly guides will assist you with your luggage and will drive you to a Panama City Hotel for some rest.
Day 2 - The first stop on this incredible journey is Panama City. The city is known for its modern first world architecture. You will learn about why Panama is the second largest trade zone of the world after Hong Kong, the second most important banking district of the world after Switzerland and the 8th wonder of the world, the famous Panama Canal!
Day 3 - Travel north from Panama City to rio negro in order to take a boat river ride into the ocean to meet the great Cebaco Island, then settle into our beachfront property where all tents will be arranged and ready to use. Head strait to the beach for your first activity session. Here you can practice surf, volleyball, soccer, skim boarding, swimming or simply relaxing. Our property offers a variety of surf breaks at different levels in order to practice your surfing abilities. For the ones with less experience we will start by refining basics; paddling, dropping and turning. Experienced instructors will teach you about the importance of understanding the ocean and how the contour affects the shape of a wave and fish banks. Gather experience on tide changes, lunar phases, wind patterns, and use this to predict surf and fishing conditions.
Day 4 - Get ready to explore and snorkel the nearby Coiba National Park! Studies indicate that the Coiba Island was once home to various pre-Columbian Indian tribes as it was Cebaco Island. Once Spanish explorers arrived to this area in 1512 all tribes disappeared, taken to main land or killed. Around 1919, the Coiba Island became a penal colony and was not until recent years that it was its prime function. Put on your snorkeling gear and experience the protected marine reserve where turtles, manta rays, school of jacks and nurse sharks live. This is why Coiba Island became a National Park and got incorporated to UNESCO (1992) as a World Heritage Site.
Day 5 – Another day in paradise! Open your mind and soul to the pristine crystal clear waters of the camping vacation site. You are opened to explore the areas of this private bay, visit its nearby river, practice some of the available activities (volleyball, soccer, surfing, snorkeling) or simply relax…
Day 6 – After another great breakfast you must prepare your mind to see one of the most impressive rain forest reserves in the Planet! Cerro La Hoya is made up of the oldest rocks in Panama dating from the Upper Cretaceous after Volcanic activities. The climate changes drastically from shore to the upper peaks where you will see HUGE trees and wild life. This park is also a hydrological reserve where you will see the starting point of some of the most important rivers in the country.
Day 7 - Meeting the locals is always a plus wherever you travel. Look around paradise and stretch for a 1.5-hour walk inside its tropical rain forest. Members will have the chance to stop by rivers, waterfalls and trails. Once we are across the Island, we will meet the village locals in Cebaco Island where a group of the 500 habitants will talk a little about their lifestyle, traditions and culture.
Day 8 - The local chef will provide the last meal in this Island paradise and you will get ready to pack. A 10 am boat ride will be ready to take us back to the bus in order to head back to Panama City. A nice hotel will be waiting for hot showers and comfortable beds! Amazing memories will remain after this camping vacation, a passion for nature, surfing, love for the local people and landscapes of Panama.
